When did you launch?
Our website launched on 1 January 2021

How and why did you come up with the idea?
I had been thinking about setting up a business for a long time, but I really harnessed the idea of a jewellery company in mid 2020. The main driver for me was looking for a creative outlet and a space for true individuality and authenticity. As a lawyer by profession – I craved a space to be free and to encourage others to be that too.

What barriers / obstacles did you have to overcome and how did you do it?
I think my biggest obstacle was self doubt and the unknown- but the first step is always the hardest. I just kept taking small steps with small targets and with the support and encouragement of my family, I just kept putting one foot in front of the other! Though we still have a long way to go.

What is different about your product and brand?
Our products are unique and embody personality. We focus on curating products that represent individuality and facilitate self expression. NDU literally means life and we want personality and authenticity to permeate everything we do. We are still getting started, but we are really hoping to build a community of free spirited fearless people!

What are your plans for the future?
I would love to expand the business into other areas in the future and to connect the business more closely with organisations and initiatives that we are passionate about – centred around black and female empowerment. In the meantime, we really want NDU to become a household name and we are looking to keep deepening our brand and expanding our reach.

Are you looking for funding / investment?
It’s still very early doors for us as a business – so we are still getting up on our feet. We are not actively seeking investment. However, should the right opportunity come along we would be open to it.
